CONFESSION #0002 — OPEN HOUSE HORROR
Thursday, March 13, 2025
I spent three hours prepping for an open house last Sunday. Fresh flowers, cookies in the oven, soft jazz playing. The works. First visitor walks in, grabs two cookies, uses the bathroom, and leaves without saying a single word to me. Second visitor spent 45 minutes taking selfies in the primary bedroom for her Instagram. Never asked a single question about the house. Third guy wanted to know if the sellers would include their dog in the sale. The dog. Fourth was a couple who got into a screaming match about their relationship in the kitchen while I pretended to adjust the fruit bowl. The wife stormed out and the husband asked if I wanted to grab dinner sometime. I had exactly zero qualified buyers and one guy who definitely cased the place for a future burglary. At 4pm I packed up my signs, ate the remaining cookies in my car, and questioned every life decision that led me to this career. My seller texted asking how it went and I said "great turnout, lots of interest." That's the lie that keeps this industry running.

Judge Reginald Escrow III
⚖️ Presiding
GUILTY OF FRAUDULENT OPTIMISM IN THE FIRST DEGREE AND COOKIE-BASED EMOTIONAL TRIAGE
This Court has witnessed many crimes against truth, but telling a seller there was "lots of interest" when the only genuine interest expressed was in ACQUIRING THEIR DOG and YOUR PHONE NUMBER reaches new heights of professional delusion. The defendant stood in that kitchen, adjusting a fruit bowl that did not need adjusting, while a marriage dissolved before their eyes, and STILL managed to compose a text message that could have been written by a chatbot programmed exclusively on toxic positivity. Judge Escrow himself once hosted an open house where a visitor asked if the basement was "suitable for his purposes" and then winked, and even HE did not retreat to his vehicle to consume baked goods in shame. The Instagram influencer treating the primary suite as her personal content studio, the bathroom cookie thief, the aspiring dog-purchaser—these are not buyers, these are CHARACTERS FROM A FEVER DREAM. Yet the defendant typed "great turnout" with their own fingers, their own soul, their own rapidly deteriorating grip on what words mean. This Court must adjourn immediately as I am feeling unwell.
