I hosted an open house last Saturday and within the first twenty minutes, a couple walked in, immediately started opening every closet, and then asked if they could "test the shower pressure." I politely said no, obviously, and they looked at me like I was the unreasonable one. Then around hour two, a guy showed up who I'm pretty sure was just there for the free bottled water because he grabbed four of them, asked zero questions about the house, and left. But the real highlight was the woman who brought her elderly mother, who sat down on the staged living room couch and announced she was "going to rest for a bit" while her daughter toured. Forty-five minutes later, I'm packing up my signs and this sweet old lady is still on the couch, now asleep, and her daughter is nowhere to be found. I finally tracked the daughter down in the backyard taking photos of the garden for "inspiration." I stood there holding my lockbox thinking about all the life choices that led me to this moment.
