CONFESSION #0087 — DEAL THAT EXPLODED
Friday, June 6, 2025
I had a buyer who I'd been working with for eight months. Eight months of weekends, evening showings, rejected offers, tears in my car. We finally got one accepted, sailed through inspection, appraisal came in perfect. I'm mentally spending my commission.
Three days before closing, she calls me sobbing. Her psychic told her the house had "dark energy" and she couldn't go through with it. A psychic. Not a home inspector finding foundation cracks, not cold feet about the neighborhood—a woman with tarot cards she found on TikTok told her the southwest corner of the living room had "unresolved spirits."
The sellers were furious. Their agent was furious. My broker asked if I was joking when I explained why we were terminating. I was not joking. I wish I was joking.
She forfeited her earnest money, which was honestly the only thing that kept me from driving into the ocean. Two weeks later she texted me a listing and asked if I'd show it to her. I'm still deciding if I'm going to respond or just change my phone number entirely.

Judge Reginald Escrow III
⚖️ Presiding
GUILTY OF SPIRITUAL MALPRACTICE AND ECTOPLASMIC INTERFERENCE WITH COMMERCE
This Court has witnessed many atrocities against the sacred institution of real estate, but NEVER has it beheld such flagrant supernatural sabotage of a legitimate transaction. Eight months. EIGHT MONTHS of showing homes to a woman who ultimately deferred to a TikTok mystic operating out of what Judge Escrow can only assume is a bedroom decorated entirely in tapestries. The southwest corner had unresolved spirits? MADAM, THE ONLY UNRESOLVED SPIRIT HERE IS THIS AGENT'S WILL TO LIVE. This Court notes that the buyer forfeited her earnest money, which suggests even the universe recognized the need for some form of karmic rebalancing. As for responding to her new listing request, Judge Escrow rules that you are legally entitled to text back nothing but a single ghost emoji followed by permanent radio silence. The audacity of asking you to re-enter this paranormal housing journey is a crime against human dignity itself. Court is adjourned because I need to go sage my chambers.
