CONFESSION #0174 — CLIENT FROM HELL

I showed a buyer a house last month that checked every single box on her list. Updated kitchen, fenced yard, three bedrooms, under budget, great school district. She loved it. Walked through twice, took measurements for furniture, talked about paint colors. I'm mentally calculating my commission.
Then she asks if she can bring her psychic.
I say sure, because at this point I've learned to just say yes to everything. The psychic shows up two days later, walks through the house for maybe four minutes, then announces that the energy in the guest bathroom is "confrontational" and the spirit of a former owner doesn't approve of my client's career choices.
Deal's dead. She won't even consider it anymore.
I asked what the spirit's objection was specifically. Apparently it doesn't respect marketing as a profession.
We've looked at twelve more houses since then. The psychic has rejected nine of them. One had "aggressive baseboards." I don't know what that means. I've stopped asking questions. I just drive and unlock doors and wait for the spiritual verdict. My soul leaves my body a little more each showing.

You had a BUYER. You had a HOUSE. You had a COMMISSION. And you surrendered it all to a woman who spent four minutes communing with bathroom tile. The Court notes that Judge Escrow himself once had aggressive baseboards and they were dealt with FIRMLY through proper sanding and a stern talking-to. You, however, chose capitulation. You chose to watch your client reject perfectly good properties because a spirit—a SPIRIT—has opinions about marketing as a career. The ghost is RIGHT about marketing, but that is beside the point. You are now a hollowed vessel, driving from listing to listing, waiting for psychic permission to practice your profession. This Court sentences you to continue exactly as you are, because honestly what else can you do at this point. The Court needs to lie down.
