CONFESSION #0184 — OTHER
Thursday, September 11, 2025
I've started lying about my profession at social gatherings. Last weekend someone asked what I do and I said "logistics coordination" without even thinking about it. And honestly? Best decision I've made in years. No more unsolicited opinions about the market. No more "my cousin's friend made a million dollars flipping houses" stories. No more people asking me to give them a home value estimate based on a verbal description of their property while we're standing in line for tacos. The other day someone at my kid's soccer game started complaining about their agent and I just nodded sympathetically like I wasn't one of them. It felt amazing. My husband thinks it's ridiculous but he doesn't understand what it's like to be cornered at a birthday party by someone who wants to debate mortgage rates for forty-five minutes. I worked hard for this license and I'm genuinely proud of my career, but sometimes I just want to eat my appetizers in peace without becoming everyone's free real estate hotline. Is that so wrong?

Judge Reginald Escrow III
⚖️ Presiding
GUILTY OF PROFESSIONAL IDENTITY ABANDONMENT AND TACTICAL CIVILIAN COSPLAY
This Court has witnessed many acts of cowardice but rarely one so EXQUISITELY CALCULATED. The defendant has constructed an elaborate witness protection program for herself, hiding behind the beige camouflage of "logistics coordination" while her real estate license gathers dust in her soul. And yet, THIS COURT CANNOT FULLY CONDEMN HER. Judge Escrow himself once told a persistent nephew he worked in "document processing" to avoid reviewing his business plan for a combination laundromat-escape room, so perhaps there is wisdom in strategic obscurity. However, nodding sympathetically while someone maligns your own profession? That is the behavior of a DOUBLE AGENT and this Court finds it both disturbing and, frankly, aspirational. The defendant shall be sentenced to attend one social gathering per quarter where she must loudly announce her profession within the first three minutes, then immediately excuse herself to the appetizer table with diplomatic immunity. This Court needs a moment because I am now reconsidering everything I have ever admitted to strangers at parties.
