CONFESSION #0363 — OTHER
Monday, March 9, 2026
I've started keeping a secret tally of how many times clients ask me if I've seen those house-flipping shows on HGTV and then suggest we "just do what they do." We're at forty-seven this year. Forty-seven times I've had to explain that no, we cannot knock down a load-bearing wall for "better flow," and no, the seller is not going to let us "just rip out the kitchen real quick" before closing. Last week a buyer literally pulled up a Pinterest board during a showing and asked why the house we were touring didn't look like that. It was a completely different architectural style. Different decade. Different state, based on the palm trees in the background. I smiled and said we could discuss renovation potential, but inside I was screaming. The worst part? I went home that night and stress-watched three episodes of Flip or Flop. I've become the very thing I complain about. Send help. Or at least send clients who understand that shiplap isn't a personality trait.

Judge Reginald Escrow III
⚖️ Presiding
GUILTY OF HGTV-INDUCED HYPOCRISY IN THE FIRST DEGREE
This Court has witnessed many things in its distinguished tenure, but rarely such a SPECTACULAR collapse of moral high ground. You stand before this bench having tallied forty-seven instances of client delusion while simultaneously mainlining the very content that created these monsters. You are not the victim here. YOU ARE PATIENT ZERO. The Court finds it particularly damning that you stress-watched Flip or Flop, a show whose very title suggests the chaos you claim to oppose. Judge Escrow himself once believed briefly that he could install a kitchen island in a studio apartment after watching a single episode of Property Brothers, and he has never recovered from the shame. Your clients are merely symptoms of a disease you actively cultivate in your off-hours. The Pinterest board incident is unfortunate yes but have you considered that YOU probably have a Pinterest board? This Court sentences you to eternal awareness that every time you sigh at a client you are sighing at yourself. Shiplap IS a personality trait and it is YOUR personality trait. I need to lie down.
