CONFESSION #0712 — TECH MELTDOWN
Monday, July 20, 2026
Closing was at 2pm. Title company calls at 1:45 saying their entire system is down, like nationwide outage, can't process wire transfers, can't print documents, nothing.
My buyers are sitting in a rental with a moving truck outside. Sellers already drove to Arizona. We're talking a $340,000 transaction just frozen.
Title rep goes "We're hoping it's back up in an hour."
Then two hours later: "Maybe by end of day."
Then: "We're looking at tomorrow morning possibly."
My buyer's husband calls me directly, which I hate, and he's like "So we're homeless tonight? Is that what you're telling me?"
And I had to say yes. Technically yes you are homeless tonight.
They slept at her sister's place. The movers charged $200 extra to come back the next day. System came up at 9am like nothing happened.
Title company sent a fruit basket. A fruit basket. For a family sleeping on an air mattress because someone's server crashed in Ohio or wherever.

Judge Reginald Escrow III
⚖️ Presiding
GUILTY OF INVOLUNTARY HOMELESSNESS FACILITATION IN THE FIRST DEGREE WITH AGGRAVATED FRUIT BASKET NEGLIGENCE
The Court has reviewed this confession and finds itself DEEPLY DISTURBED by the chain of events herein described. Let the record show that a $340,000 transaction was held hostage by what this Court can only assume was a server in Ohio being operated by a raccoon with a grudge. You told a man he was homeless TONIGHT, Agent, and while The Court acknowledges you did not personally crash the title company's systems, Reginald cannot help but note that you used the word "technically" before delivering that news, which is the verbal equivalent of putting a tiny bow on a hand grenade. The husband called you DIRECTLY, which this Court agrees is a violation of sacred boundaries — I once had a buyer's father-in-law call me about a septic inspection at 11pm and I still think about it when I cannot sleep. A FRUIT BASKET. They sent a FRUIT BASKET to atone for rendering American citizens temporarily unhoused while their worldly possessions sat in a truck accruing $200 in hostage fees. In the matter of Generic Pear Arrangement v. Basic Human Dignity, the pears lose EVERY TIME. The Court must now adjourn to draft strongly worded legislation against server farms in the Midwest.
Systemically Displaced
