CONFESSION #0918 — THE LISTING THAT WOULDN'T DIE
Friday, October 2, 2026
Her daughter started asking questions. That's when the whole thing really went sideways, because the mom had been in a memory care facility for eight months by then and the daughter finally noticed the house was still listed (still listed, still getting showings, still sitting there with that same dead fern in the entryway that I kept watering for some reason). The price had dropped three times, we're talking started at 485 and now we're at 399 and the daughter calls me like I'm the problem, like I personally made the foundation crack appear in the inspection that killed the first buyer, like I'm the one who told the second buyer's agent about the neighbor's rooster situation (which, the neighbor has twelve roosters and no permit but that's not even the main issue). The main issue is the daughter wants to know why mom signed a listing agreement when mom was already having episodes and I'm sitting here thinking lady I met your mother once, she seemed sharp, she offered me lemonade from a pitcher that turned out to be empty but I didn't know that was a sign. Now the daughter's threatening to report me to the board and meanwhile the house just flooded because someone (me, probably me, I can't remember) left a bathroom window open during the rain last Tuesday and I don't even know who's paying for that.

Judge Reginald Escrow III
⚖️ Presiding
GUILTY OF NEGLIGENT CUSTODIANSHIP OF A LISTING, AGGRAVATED FERN MAINTENANCE, AND FIRST-DEGREE EMPTY PITCHER DENIAL
The Court has reviewed this confession and Reginald is DISTURBED on multiple levels. You watered a dead fern for EIGHT MONTHS while a woman with memory issues sat in a care facility wondering where her lemonade pitcher went, and you want sympathy because a daughter finally noticed her mother's house was being slowly drowned by your incompetence? The empty pitcher WAS the sign, you absolute walnut, that was the universe SCREAMING at you in citrus-based metaphor and you just smiled and nodded like you were at a timeshare presentation. This Court has seen agents blame market conditions, blame interest rates, blame Mercury being in retrograde, but never have I witnessed someone attempt to distribute culpability among a cracked foundation, twelve unlicensed roosters, AND their own selective amnesia about a bathroom window. You LEFT A WINDOW OPEN and now you're playing detective with yourself like some kind of noir protagonist who also happens to be the murderer, the victim, AND the flood. The daughter is threatening to report you to the board and frankly The Court hopes she does because this listing has been a crime scene since the day that empty pitcher hit your lips and you chose to taste nothing and learn less. I once left a window open at my cousin's ranch and a family of possums moved into the breakfast nook and I will tell you this, not once did I pretend it was ambiguous who did that. VERDICT STANDS, Reginald must now go water something that is actually alive.
Citrus-Based Culpability
