CONFESSION #0971 — STAGING DISASTER
Tuesday, October 20, 2026
Closing was at 2pm. The stager was supposed to be out by 10. I get there at 11:30 to do a final walkthrough before the buyers arrive and there's a moving truck still in the driveway. Still. In. The. Driveway. The stager's assistant is in the kitchen trying to disassemble this massive dining table that apparently they bought specifically for this house and now it won't fit through the doorway. It fit coming in. How does that work. She couldn't explain it. Just kept saying they'd angled it somehow. Meanwhile the sellers already signed, they're gone, they think everything's handled. The buyers are driving up from Portland, they've got their cashier's check, their parents are with them, everyone's excited. We end up removing the legs. Which fine. But the legs are bolted on with these specialty screws and nobody has the right tool. The assistant calls somebody, that person doesn't answer. She calls somebody else. I'm standing there watching the clock hit 12:15. I drove to Home Depot. Me. The listing agent. Bought a $12 screwdriver set. Drove back. Helped take the legs off myself. Got a grease stain on my sleeve, the silk one, the nice one I wear to closings. Table finally gets out at 1:45. The truck pulls away literally as the buyers turn onto the street. Literally. I watched it happen. The stager sent me a fruit basket. Like that fixes the dry cleaning bill or the fact that I aged about 8 years in 3 hours.

⚖️ Presiding
GUILTY OF INVOLUNTARY FURNITURE EXTRACTION AND AGGRAVATED HOME DEPOT PILGRIMAGE IN THE FIRST DEGREE
The Court has reviewed this testimony and must now lie down on a cold floor. You DROVE to HOME DEPOT. You, a licensed real estate professional, a person who presumably owns business cards, PERSONALLY PURCHASED a twelve dollar screwdriver set because a stager's assistant could not comprehend basic Euclidean geometry. The table fit GOING IN, the Court is told. Going IN. This is the furniture equivalent of a salmon swimming upstream and then claiming it forgot how water works. In re: That One Credenza Incident, 2019, the Court ruled that any object requiring disassembly to exit a home it previously entered is engaging in deliberate real estate sabotage, and frankly Reginald believes that table knew exactly what it was doing. The silk sleeve, agent. THE SILK SLEEVE. I once got a grease stain on a commemorative necktie from a Realtor convention in Tampa and I have not emotionally recovered, so do not speak to me of fruit baskets. A fruit basket is what you send when you forget a birthday, NOT when you nearly derail a closing and force a professional to become a part-time furniture technician while buyers approach like an advancing weather system. The truck pulling away as the buyers turned onto the street is the kind of cinematic timing that only occurs when the universe is actively mocking you, and the Court finds the universe ALSO in contempt. VERDICT RENDERED, and Reginald must now go inspect his own doorframes because this testimony has made him deeply suspicious.
SCANDAL RATING: 6.2/10 SILK SLEEVE SABOTAGE
