CONFESSION #0980 — STAGING DISASTER
Friday, October 23, 2026
The seller called while I was on vacation. Said he wanted to help with staging. Said he had ideas.
Monday: I get back. Tuesday: I go to the house.
Wednesday 8am: I open the front door. There's a fountain in the living room. Like a full outdoor concrete fountain. Three tiers. Cherub on top. It's plugged in. It's running.
Wednesday 8:02am: I notice the carpet is wet. Not damp. Wet.
Wednesday 8:05am: The seller is standing there smiling. He goes my wife's sister was getting rid of it.
Wednesday 8:06am: I ask how he got it inside. He says four guys and they took the door off the hinges.
Thursday: Water damage estimate comes back. Twelve hundred just for the carpet. Subfloor is questionable.
Friday: Showing canceled. Second showing canceled.
Saturday: The fountain is still running. He won't turn it off. He says it adds character.
Sunday: His wife finally makes him unplug it but he leaves the fountain there. Just sitting there. Dry cherub staring at potential buyers.
The house sat for six weeks. Six.

Judge Reginald Escrow III
⚖️ Presiding
GUILTY OF AGGRAVATED CHERUB NEGLIGENCE AND UNLAWFUL INDOOR WATER FEATURE INSTALLATION
The Court has seen many things in its distinguished career, but NEVER has Reginald witnessed such flagrant disregard for the sacred boundary between indoor and outdoor decor. This seller committed what can only be described as hydraulic terrorism against his own living room, and you, Agent, stood by while a concrete cherub urinated into the subfloor for FOUR CONSECUTIVE DAYS. Four guys took the door off the hinges, and not ONE of them thought to consult The Court? This reminds me of my own sister-in-law, who once tried to give me a decorative windmill, and I had to explain to her that some gifts are actually threats. You should have drawn a line in that wet, wet carpet the moment you saw three tiers of European water baby desecrating a residential listing, but instead you let this man's wife handle it like this was a MARRIAGE ISSUE and not a REAL ESTATE FELONY. Six weeks on market because you couldn't tell a grown man to evict a fountain, and frankly The Court is so disturbed by the phrase "dry cherub staring at potential buyers" that I must now adjourn to collect myself in chambers where I keep The Council.
Cherub Chaos
